8-day Best of the Hidden Gems Uganda and Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Kigali International airport and city tour

Upon your arrival at Kinombe/ Kigali International Airport,  welcomed by an informative and experienced safari guide who knows Uganda and Rwanda by the head. The safari guide will brief you about your safari program and if all time allows, you have a city tour experience in one of the cleanest cities on the African continent (Kigali).

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking at Volcanoes National Park

After your morning breakfast at the lodge,  picked up by your safari guide who will drive you heading to volcanoes National Park for the once in a life time mountain gorilla trekking. Reaching at the park headquarters, you will be briefed and then you set off inside volcanoes national park for the mountain gorilla trekking.  After seeing the mountain gorillas, you will spend a full hour with these awesome and gentle primates.

After this successful mountain gorilla trekking you will have lunch and later in the evening you will go to iby’wachu culture village and here you will be welcomed and entertained by the local dancers. Besides the dances you will get to understand traditional living of the Rwandans, making craft and visiting the king’s palace and after this memorable culture visit you will head back to Hotel Muhabura for dinner and overstay.

Day 3: Transfer from Volcanoes Rwanda to Bwindi Uganda

On our next day after a hearty breakfast, we embark on our 4×4 adventure and here we shall have some stopovers for scenic hilly views before we cross the Chanika border to Uganda for our next wildlife and chimpanzee encounter. Reaching late in the evening we shall check into  Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer from Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Very early in the morning, we shall have our breakfast at the lodge and lunch en route as we drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing through the Ishasha sector to have a close encounter with the rare tree-climbing lions as our evening game drive activity and we shall sign into our lodge for dinner and overstay.

Day 5: Game drives and boat cruise at Queen Elizabeth National Park

Still, on our best of Uganda and Rwanda lifetime safari, we shall have a morning game drive in search of the big five like the buffaloes, lions, leopards, elephants, warthogs, bush bucks, antelopes, kobs, waterbucks, hyenas, heartbeats, Topis, impalas, baboons and some interesting species of birds.

After a successful game drive, we shall report back to the lodge for breakfast and lunch as we wait to have a boat cruise experience in the evening floating at Kazinga channel. We expect to see more wildlife like hippos, crocodiles, birds, elephants, and so many other interesting wildlife features. After our wildlife sights, we shall report back to Bush Lodge for dinner and overstay.

Day 6: Transferring to Kibale Forest National Park

Very Early in the morning after getting our breakfast, we shall hit the road again and this time around we shall be heading to the primate’s Capital (Kibale Forest National Park) but along our way, we shall have some amazing sights of the crater lakes as we enjoy our lunch on route.

Reporting at the lodge in the evening for Chimpanzee guest house dinner at night overstay.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking at Kibale Forest National Park

After our warm breakfast, we shall report at the park headquarters for briefing and when the briefing is done, we shall set off into the forest in search of our close cousins (chimpanzees) but along the way expect to see lots of other primate species like the baboons, velvet monkeys, black and white colobus, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys and the forest elephants.

When the chimpanzee trekking experience is done, we shall report back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Transferring from Kibale Forest NP to Entebbe Airport

On our last day of this combined life-changing safari of the hidden gems (Uganda and Rwanda) we shall drive heading to Kampala and Entebbe airport for your flight back home but along the way expect some stopovers for lunch and photo moments at the Uganda Equator.
